The Bloomington Hospital Site presents an extraordinary opportunity to create a community hub that enhances and expands the experience of living, working, and visiting Bloomington focused on the public realm. The existing hospital campus has served the Bloomington community for more than a century and in 2021 it will relocate its operations to a new campus. Through an extensive public outreach effort, the plan builds upon Bloomington resident values focusing on the character, experience, and connectivity of the public realm serving as a framework for future development. Mayor John Hamilton says, “The redevelopment of the Bloomington Hospital site is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to rebuild a neighborhood in the core of our 202-year-old city to reflect who we are now and how we want to live, work, and recreate into the next century.”
