Georgia Street
Project Description:
Georgia Street is the heart of Downtown Indianapolis's entertainment district. The three-block street was renovated in 2010 for Indianapolis to host the Superbowl. Today, a new vision for Georgia Street is being created to ensure the long term success of the street as a vibrant gathering place for residents and visitors alike. The new improvements will prioritize street-level connections to entertainment anchors, increase activity and connections on adjacent ground floors, activate with day-to-day programming, and differentiate the character of each block while coordinating with future economic redevelopment. The first phase includes the renovation of the west block of Georgia Street in alignment with the new Signia Hotel and Convention Center Expansion. These improvements will pedestrianize the street into a park-like setting for visitors to experience plaza areas with active programming, lawn and garden spaces, a grove with public art, and an iconic architectural canopy the provides shade and activation opportunities.
